Galia melons, also called tropical melons, originated in Israel. Their thick, lime-green flesh is smooth, with a complex flavor suggestive of tropical fruit and a fresh, banana-like aroma. The rind has a corky net like a cantaloupe, but without ribbing. Excellent for discerning markets.
