Mini onions can be harvested at two sizes: marble- to golf-ball-size for pearl onions, or slightly larger for bunching onions. For pearl onions, use a higher seeding density and do not thin the seedlings. For bunching onions, thin the plants to a lower density. Choose either the familiar white mini onion or a colorful, red-skinned variety.
